Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the web, including her own launched single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. In the following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was contracted to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video later released in September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been viewed over three million times over the first seven days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
