Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms, and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
