Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best well-known for her character of detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. She grew up within a household with four other brothers. While she had a childhood dream of becoming journalist, it wasn't until her high school years when Delaney started modeling. After moving away from New York City and gaining experience with commercials at New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. Her first role as an actor came when she was a young, innocent girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Since then Delaney has been featured in many films television movies and dramas. As with her professional career however, her private life has not been happy or successful. The actress, who is gifted and beautiful, has battled drinking before. Her marriages have also been unsuccessful twice. In 2005, she lost the custody of her son.
